Tigers fans wanted for petition

Melbourne Tigers fans are calling on other fans who are opposed to Melbourne United to sign the change.org petition to stop Melbourne United being used and revert to the Melbourne Tigers name, so far 500 fans have answered the call and with the 2014/15 season drawing closer it is hoped for fans sign as Melbourne United get notified every time a signature is added to the petition.

Change.org have had great success with petitions and there is always the possibility that it will work for Tigers fans but it is impossible if Tigers fans do not rally together and add their names to the petition.

Click here to visit the petition page, to sign it use the Facebook option to make it easier and remember to pass the petition around wherever possible.

Tigers retired jerseys not honoured by United

Melbourne United has decided to make available the jersey numbers that were retired by the Melbourne Tigers.

Numbers such as Andrew Gaze’s #10 and Lanard Copeland’s #21 and many other Tigers legends are now able to be used by Melbourne United players.

In the case of Warrick Giddey’s retired #6 and Lanard Copeland’s #21 they have been taken by Nate Tomlinson and Greg Page (a development player).

This discovery will further anger Tigers fans who believe that retired jersey numbers should be honoured and untouched by Melbourne United despite their claims the two sides are different.
